Youth in Revolt is one of our favorite Michael Cera appearances. Who wouldn't love his nice guy/ seductive bad boy dialogues?

Tie-Dye Day
We'd like to think that everyone has atleast one tie-dyed t-shirt in their closet. We have tie-dye parties in the summer and invite all our friends to make shirts before everyone goes back to school. So we have a lot of tie-dye...
Plaid Day
Playing catch-up with some older posts! Here's plaid day- everyone needs a day inspired by a lumberjack.
What We're Doing...
We like to think that we need each other to be wierd. (Weird has very positive connotations in our vocabulary.) We didn't like the thought of being in seperate states when Kendra went back to school.
Kendra was leaving on a plane to visit her best friend. We were killing time waiting for her flight and grabbed some food. We talked about all the thrifting we had done that weekend and the weird dress habits we wanted to try. We decided we would play dress up everyday to keep up with our "weirdness."
We both feel that everyone needs something to look forward to through the week, and that dress can have a positive affect on your mood. We could hardley contain ourselves in the airport terminal brainstorming themes and things we wanted to do with our blog.
We decided on the name, Themes + Meemz, because of our sister (nicknamed Meemz.) We both admire our sister for the self confidence that she exudes. For a girl in junior high she is really good at being who she wants to be, and doesn't let the influence of other people poison that.
So this is THEMES + MEEMZ. Two sisters playing dress-up for a year. We would love for you to participate with us- and to send pictures! We would also like to hear any theme ideas you might have.

Polka Dots Day
Hope everyone enjoyed a day of polka dots! We both had a hard time finding any in our closets at first...so we had to improvise. Kendra found this neat turquoise dress at the mission mart. She chopped the sleeves and hemmed it up and this was the result. I wasn't having any luck finding polka dots...the only thing i had was a pair of boxer shorts. They quickly became this skirt.

Stripes Day
Yay Stripes! We were so jazzed to see that all the participation for yesterday's theme- we feel like its already getting around and we love it! Here's what we were sporting yesterday:
We also liked our younger sister's outfit for the day (she is the namesake of this blog, so she's sort of required to participate.) She had to wear her school uniform but she still found a way to work in some stripes on her socks and lunch box.

Themes + Meemz Master List
We like to play dress up. In public. We also like theme parties. If these two of our favorite things got together and had a child, it would be Themes + Meemz. So basically, we are are going to plan days in which we dress in theme, hopefully at least once a week. And we would like the world to join and/or see what we do, but whatever because it's already a sensation my mind. Side note: we also do crafts. The following is the List of what we've come up with themes-wise... so far. Suggestions are more than welcome. It's in no particular order, but there will soon be a schedule. More to come.
